The Middle East Direct Selling Forum was held successfully on March 28, 2017 in the Intercontinental Hotel in Dubai Festival City.
Organized by the Direct Selling Association of UAE (DSA UAE) with full support of the World Federation of Direct Selling Associations (WFDSA), Department of Economic Development in Dubai (DED), Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry, and Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM), the first Middle East Direct Selling Forum set out to be a mobilizing force in promoting and protecting the direct selling industry in the MENA region.
Approximately 200 guests from the public and private sectors in the UAE and the MENA region, regional and international direct selling industry executives, as well as members of direct selling associations from Americas, Europe, and Asia Pacific attended this full day event.
Mr. Ali Ibrahim, Deputy Director General, DED, Mr. Mr. Issam Kazim, CEO, DTCM, Mr. Hassan Al Hashemi, VP, International Relations, Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Ms. Tamuna Gabilaia, COO and Executive Director, WDFSA, Mr. Omar El Masri, Chairman, DSA UAE, and Mr. Poorya Montaseri, Executive Director, DSA UAE, spoke at the event.
During the forum, the importance of the industry for the UAE, GCC, and the MENA region was discussed in detail. Panel speakers shared experiences from international markets and gave recommendations on how the region can prosper by promoting and protecting the industry at foundational level.
Direct selling is among the largest industries worldwide generating US$ 200 billion per year with the involvement of over 100 million people worldwide. The regional direct selling industry is also currently booming, having a positive socioeconomic impact on commerce, tourism, M.I.C.E, and entrepreneurship.
The UAE alone is spearheading developments in multiple fronts with Dubai being a global hub for business and tourism and one of the best platforms for growth of the industry.
